Description
China National Coal Group Corp, managed by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, is a large central enterprise in the energy sector. Its predecessor was the China Coal Import and Export Corporation, established in July 1982. The main business includes coal production and trade, coal chemical industry, pithead power generation, coal mine construction, coal machinery manufacturing, coalbed methane development, and related engineering technical services. It currently has 41 wholly-owned companies, holding and joint-stock subsidiaries, 4 overseas institutions, and 11 equity investees, with a registered workforce of 121,000. By the end of 2009, total assets were 147.6 billion yuan, ranking 77th among China's top 500 enterprises in 2008. In August 2016, China National Coal Group Corp ranked 168th in the '2016 China Top 500 Enterprises'. On September 23, 2019, it was designated as one of the first national vocational education teacher enterprise practice bases by the Ministry of Education and three other departments. In April 2020, it was selected for the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission's list of 'demonstration enterprises for scientific and technological reform'.
